Who we are:
John Martin Surveyors was formed in 1992, initially based in East Bristol, and serving Bristol and Bath as independent surveyors. For a short time, it also had its own independent estate agency.
In 2005, we joined forces with another well-established surveying partnership, Fielder & Dunscombe, based in North Somerset. The joining together of experience and knowledge produced an independent surveying firm, able to provide detailed local knowledge covering an area from Bradford-on-Avon to Weston-super-Mare. Roger Fielder has since gone on to become a mediator, but we still have Willy Dunscombe as part of our team.
All our personnel are CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) checked, and the firm is a member of the Trading Standards "Buy With Confidence" Scheme.
John Martin has many years of surveying experience in the area, with specialist interest in Georgian and Victorian properties. In the past, he has worked for Bristol-based companies such as JP Sturge, and also in Bath City Council's property department. In 1991 he obtained a NHBC registration and supervised his own building projects, before becoming head of John Martin Surveyors.
Ann Martin, is John's wife, and deals with the administrative side of the Warmley office. She has worked previously for the Benefit Service in Bristol, and as a Garden Designer in Bath.
Willy Dunscombe is a consultant, used by the Partnership for his fount of knowledge. He is, perhaps, best known amongst local surveyors, as a teacher of surveyors, having worked in this capacity for some years at Bristol Polytechnic (now the University of the West of England). He, too, has experience with large companies such as Hartnell Taylor Cook, and Colleys. Now retired from most surveying work, he still provides us with invaluable advice and knowledge.
